March 16-17 Volunteer Weekend.
We’d decided to combine various projects on one weekend, and to bring everyone together we ended the day by having a meal, music and conviviality.
While the main focus of the weekend was the maintenance of the 1000 tree koala fodder tree plantation, where 20 people were involved over several days, projects at the Pavilion, Dayas restaurant and other areas attracted volunteers from far and wide. In all 35 volunteers were involved. This was also a pilot trial of sign up software conducted by Steve Browne.
On Saturday, Jacaranda Dining Room became the focus for afternoon snacks, drinks and a delicious Indian meal supplied by Michael and Magali. An impromptu farewell to our friend Peter Vowels who passed away last week followed the meal, and then everyone enjoyed a night of live and original music created by Rich, Bruce, Noel and Joelene.
We plan to hold volunteer weekends on a regular basis, most likely once per month.
April will be the Easter retreat.
What to do? You can join the team caring for our koala fodder trees for sick and orphaned koalas, or help out in the certified organic veggie garden, support creek regeneration and general landcare, or help caretakers with maintenance and upkeep of facilities. Everyone welcome!
